The Bougie Baby Registry Items I'm Actually Splurging On
I don't consider myself "bougie"...in most aspects of life. I love a good Facebook Marketplace find and my local Buy Nothing Group. But I'm a first-time mom and have found myself being thrown into the endless expensive baby products research game—and I've made it through to the other side with a solid list of products I want. At least I think it's a solid list. I'll keep you updated…
There is an overwhelming amount of bougie baby registry items in the world, and I've filtered through to find the ones that I think are worth it. Now, I'm not expecting people to buy these for me. But you never know if a magical fairy will come along and buy the whole list…right?
Below are the products I'm adding to my registry, and full disclosure: I'm using affiliate links. If you purchase through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Here are the bougie baby registry items I'm actually splurging on:
Newton Baby Mattress
I never knew baby mattresses were such an important product to research, but it turns out they are! This is the mattress my sister got, and I trust her opinion fully. I'm buying this because of its breathability—I like knowing that my baby can smush their face in it and still be able to breathe. Studies show that babies can get more air breathing through this mattress than a traditional mattress.
I also like that you can wash THE WHOLE THING, not just a cover. Plus, this mattress can last up to their toddler years, so it's not just for the newborn stage. This is one of those expensive baby products that feels worth it when you consider how much time your baby will spend sleeping (hopefully).
Calpak Diaper Bag
Honestly, I just think this diaper bag is so cute, and I love the Hazelnut color. I wanted a backpack because my years of nannying have taught me that the cute shoulder bags are just way too uncomfortable. This bag has so many different pockets and compartments for me to attempt being organized in. It's also made from recycled material, which I love, and it's waterproof!
Also, I love the luggage sleeve. We plan to travel with the baby, so being able to attach the backpack to a carry-on easily is such a game changer for me.
Keekaroo Peanut Diaper Changer
This was a non-negotiable for me. I've used this changer with so many kids as a nanny and have recommended it to all my friends with kids—and I've never heard one complaint. Being able to just wipe down the changer instead of taking the cover off to wash after each accident is SUCH a game changer. It's 100% water-repellent (thank god), and you literally just wipe it down and it's clean.
Also, it's cute and aesthetic, and that's the vibe I'm going for.
Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair
I chose this chair mainly because my sister has all the available parts for it (thanks, sis). But I was really convinced after seeing my 3-year-old nephew still use it as his chair for every meal. I love how it has a newborn attachment so that we can eat at the table with the baby right there, and then it can grow with the child so they are always included during meals. I also love the design and the footplate that adjusts for proper support (90-degree rule).
This is definitely one of the pricier bougie baby registry items, but when you think about using it for years, it makes sense.
AllModern Rocking Recliner Glider
I could have gone way bougier on a recliner (I'm talking to you, Babyletto). But I decided to just go halfway bougie, and this AllModern glider gets such good reviews. It swivels, it rocks, it reclines, and it's cute. I think it's very fairly priced!
Here's the thing—I'm going to be spending a lot of time in this chair. Late-night feedings, early morning cuddles, trying to get the baby to sleep at 3 AM...this chair is going to be my home base. It's one of those expensive baby products that I know I'll use multiple times a day, every single day, so the investment feels worth it. Plus, it actually looks good and won't be an eyesore in the nursery, which is a bonus.
Two Boppy Pillows
I know the Boppy pillow in itself isn't bougie, but I want two of them, which is the bougie part. One for upstairs in my room and one for downstairs so that I don't have to bring it up or down with me. I also like the easy-to-wash covers, the ergonomic support, and that I can use it when baby is bigger for tummy time and sitting practice.
Look, I know this sounds ridiculous. But hear me out. When you're exhausted from being up all night and you finally get the baby down for a nap, the last thing you want to do is trek upstairs to grab a pillow before the next feeding. t's the kind of convenience that seems unnecessary until you're sleep-deprived and realize you'd pay double just to not have to take extra steps. Sometimes being a little bougie is actually just being smart about making your life easier - right?
BabyBjörn Bouncer
This is just one of the cutest baby bouncers to me. I like the ergonomic reviews and how supportive it is for baby. I like that it can grow with a child up to age two. And I like how durable and good quality it is. I think it's a great purchase for the quality.
There are so many baby bouncers out there, but the BabyBjörn just has that classic, minimalist aesthetic that I love. But beyond just looking good, the ergonomic design is what really sold me. The bouncer naturally bounces with the baby's own movements, which helps develop their motor skills and balance. The durability is unmatched. I've seen these things get passed down from kid to kid and still look great. It folds flat for storage too, which is huge when you're trying not to let baby gear take over your entire house. For the quality and longevity, I think it's absolutely worth the investment.
SollyBaby Wrap
I know everyone says that you'll go through multiple baby wraps before you find one that works for you. But I'm excited for the Solly Baby wrap! If you can't tell, I love researching the ergonomics of products. This wrap has such good reviews from occupational therapists for how it distributes the baby's weight across the back and shoulders and how it's good for hip development.
It's also so cute, and the fabric seems amazing (and it's sustainable!). I know some people say it can be difficult to figure out, but I'm ready for the challenge.
Momcozy Bottle Washer, Dryer, and Sterilizer
So many people say this is silly. "Just wash bottles and dry them and sterilize the old-fashioned way." BUT I know myself. And I know when my husband goes back to work and I'm home alone with the baby, I will want to save as much time and effort as possible. One of the families I worked for had this, and it was SO NICE not having to wash each bottle. Bougie? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
Final Thoughts
So there you have it—my list of bougie baby registry items that I'm actually adding to my registry. Are they all necessary? Probably not. But after doing all the research and hearing what works from other parents and my nannying experience, these are the expensive baby products I feel good about splurging on.
I'll report back once baby arrives and let you know if they were actually worth it!
